Cryotherapy.
Cryotherapy is the use of liquid nitrogen to freeze & destroy tissues for a medical benefit.
Uses of cryotherapy at Quakers Hill Veterinary Hospital include:
- distichiae (extra hairs along eyelid margins)
- denuding hairs in the medial canthi causing epiphora (tears down face)
- adjunct or primary treatment for eyelid tumours (histiocytomas, mast cell tumour, melanomna)
- ocular tumour (melanoma, haemangiosarcoma)
- glaucoma – cryocycloablation
- nasal squamous cell carcinoma in cats
- perianal adenomas
- adjunct to surgery for oral epuli
- arrest development of warts
